18 comments:

  1. in my opinion reality tv has a bad effect on the american society because it showcases unreal aspects of how certain people live and how they would react to certain situations. we all know that when something happens to us we dont always react the same way as what they show the actors portraying. it also is a bad influence on children because they may pick up things that they see and also it has a bad impact on some people with problems because they will see the way others go through a situation and react inthe same way sometimes not knowing what they are doing.

REality tv is a bad inflence on childrens because childrens like to imita people when they are young , they dont really noe the causes and they they just end up doing it . people tent to do what tv does . They have to undestand that many thing are just non existing ..

  3. I think that reality TV has some cons and pros. The reality TV can be a topic for conversation. It can unite many people, by criticizing or uplifting a show, for example those women in “Why Reality TV Is Good for Us by James Poniewozik.”It is harmless fun, by listening an intelligent people speaking and behaving in unusual situation. On the other hand, the reality TV can be shoddy and vulgar. It can be very bad and dangerous for the kids, if there are not monitored. The reason for that is because most of them are imitating only the worst thing from the reality TV. That is not good for children future because it can change dramatically their behaving and language. I believe that reality TV has more cons then pros that can impact the American society.

  4. you cannot say that reality tv has just a bad effect on American society. there is a lot of shows that have nothing bad on it like for example dancing with the stars. people on the show are having fun dancing and viewers have fun watching them. it ia a health relation. of coure there are shows with no point and can be harmful to american society. three words: Jerry Springer show. can someone tell me what is the point of that show? it's just ridiculous. so there are some pros and cons of reality tv. we just gotta be careful because producers don't care if it can be harmfull for a society they care about money making. we have to take care of ourselves and choose shows we like and are not stupid and vulgar at the same time.

  5. I believe reality tv is real bad for adults and children. First of all, if you know anything about tv, then you are aware they are all actors. None of these people act how they are portrayed on these shows. I have a friend who invited me to his baby shower, and tailor made(a character on I love new york) was his wifes best friends boyfriend. He was a serious pain to everybody and even spit on one of the cast members. He is nothing like that in reality. Reality Tv is only as real as you think it is.

  6. I think reality televison like everything is what you choose to make of it. How can we condem them for something that we find so disgraceful, yet all we have to do is change the channel? I think the fact that reality tv is a part of our America lays in the ratings as well as the many reality showing popping up all over the place. "When Relaity TV Gets Too Real" argues that tv promotes all the wrong things and is corruptin the youth. Why is your touth up all hours of the night watching adult shows? I think "Why Reality TV Is Good For Us" makes a point this is what the public want. It's a classic American way, supply and demand. All the reality shows that show something other than sex and violence is hidden behind the bad shows that show those very things. Bad image this and bad image that either get a remote and turn the channel or come up with something worth watching that isnt as predicatable and boring as these sitcoms that only show what upper class people go through.

  7. Reality TV has a bad impact on the American society because the shows on TV are not really real like they say they are. They pay actors to do the things you see. It has a bad influence on children especially because they like to immitate what they see on TV.

  8. Not always reality tv has bad impact on the American society. For example programs on animal planet teach kids and even adults about different animals about their lives but more often it has bad influence especially on kids. They watch too much cartoons and then they try to imitate their best heroes.

  9. i think reality tv shows how much bad taste america has when it comes to down to types of entertainment. but im not one to speak because i too enjoy those raunchy television shows. still though we can not lie that they are just as entertaining or even more than say Friends, Will and Grace, or Family Guy. The message they send out to children and young adults who are in the stepping stones of becoming adults is what concerns me. Reality tv has proven itself to be all about looks, money, and sex. Is this what we want our kids to value as they grow up?

  10. I think reality TV doesn`t even exist. They are mainly actors and it does have a bad impact on the American society because not everyone sees thinsg the same. There are some shows that are positive and have nothing bad like Maciej said Dancing with the stars, but then we have something like Jersey Shore which is horrible and they make people think life is really like that.

  11. In my opinion reality tv is pure nonsense. All shows let it be from entertaining to buying items is all full of unnnessary consuming of valuable time. I strongly believe the media is out there just to receive their ratings. The higher their ratings the more money is in their pockets. Do we receive any money from them? Never!!! T. V. should have never been invented. It serves as a tool of mass destruction. It destroys lives . Such as in the first article that claims that " producers are not legally obligated to help in any circumstance if they have a real live individual driving drunk and allowing that person to drive" . Pure nonsense. Legally !!! They should legalize to put these producers to suffer consequences for not doing the ethical thing to do. Which is to stop these unforeseen circumstances to happen in the first place.

  12. Reality TV has both negative and positive impact in people lives here in the US and around the world. I believe that nowadays the media is doing well on helping to reduce the violence on TV because anything that we are seeing on TV might reflect on the society. I think reality TV is like our window to discover a lot of stuff like how to play, dance and so on, and to help us understand the basic way of living in a multicultural environment that is the American society. In addition, we cannot live without TV anymore because it informs us about what is happening around the world, but also in our community. I am convince that reality TV have a positive impact on American society.

  13. I'm not a big fan of reality television. I've watched shows before when I was younger but not anymore. I think the pros of reality tv shows are that it gives the audience a unique experience to watch something thats real. I think the cons of reality tv shows is that it gives the audience too much sometimes and it sends the wrong message to the viewers. I think they should stop with all these date, sex, shows because seeing a show where a man or woman have to pick who they like the most is ridicules and it's getting old. I don't really think it has a big impact on America but only the most mature people should watch thse shows.

At one point in time. The viewer could relate to the characters of these shows .This was when the only reality shows were either on mtv or fox. When the show the real world priemered. This was the first time in television history viewers could actually watch people just like them in candid situations. Then it was all down hill from there in my opinion. From that point on.Reality t.v became more and more outrageous. To the point where it just seemed out right scripted. Now all it is is a platform for b list stars to regain a come back in the mainstream market .I blame this on the osbournes and flava flav. After the success of both shows .Which was basically bafoonary at its best.Reality t.v is now just another genre on t.v ,not a actual thing .With no real meaning or substance .I belive watching these shows could possibly lower your I.Q if watched enough.

The impact that reality t.v shows can be good but as well bad depending on what may be broadcast. There are somethings that kids shouldn't be watching b.c they might get ideas as well as some adults who can't understand the difference between what real and not.I personally feel like t.v does not really set any good examples and that they have no meaning.

  16. For the most part reality TV has negatively influenced our american culture. Our modern society has made a new genre out of bad actors trying to potray realism.A pro can be that It is in fact true that many of the shows that they air are to educate and inspire like "The Biggest Loser".A show about overweight people trying to become healthybut Most of the time the producers exploit these people and let them act like fools on national televison just to entertain the audience and gain ratings.A con to the modern genre is that people will incorporate the things they seen on televison into their daily lives For example children who watch these shows may think its ok to drink and drive or as a woman act degrading. These shows are full of nonsense and dont give a substantial amount to call it educational.

  17. Reality tv has some pros and cons but i would say it influence people negatively. In front of camera, some people overreact which they do not do in real life. However, sometimes it gives bad idea to the children and to the society. on the other hand, sometimes it help us to know many things about people like how they become sucessfull in life and so on. But I would say that reality tv should telecast something educational which may help people to learn so many crucial things.

  18. I believe that reality tv has a bad influence on todays youth and people in general. I believe that alot on those reality shows are rehearsed, they act crazy, sexual, partying hard, and kids see that and believe that that how to act in certain situations. people in general are very over come by tv and believe everything that is shown on it. the pros about reality show is at you do have show that actually teach you something abd give people hope, like the reality show "THE BIGGEST LOSER" it teaches overweight indivual fitness tips on how to workout, how to eat clean (diet), helps them lose weight, plus the money they win if they lose the weight is alot of motivations! so some of the reality shows are good and some have negative influnce on todays society
