Assignments for Monday March 22nd

For Monday's class, please read the following articles from our textbook:
  1. Evaluative Response (Pgs. 438 - 443)
  2. Chapter 7: Getting Started (pgs. 329 - 350)
  3. Chapter 8: Organizing and Drafting an Essay (pgs. 360 - 380
Additionally, be sure to review the four article choices for take-home essay #1. They are:
  1. Who's Cheap by Adair Lara (pg. 68)
  2. When Reality TV Gets too Real by Jeremy W. Peters (pg. 239)
  3. The Myth of the Latin Woman by Judith Ortiz Cofer (pg. 172)
  4. Tilling a New World by Bill McKibben (pg. 276)

    I choose the "The Myth of the Latin Woman" by Judith Ortiz Cofer because I have a number of Spanish friends. Additionally, I also believe her experience can also be applied to other minorities living in the United States as prejudice is still alive and well.

    Professor,"Tilting on a New World" is actually on page 276.

    Im going to write "The Myth of The Latin Women" by judith ortiz cofer, because it's about of sterotyping. That really caught my atention.

    i am going to choose the writing of Judith Ortiz Cofer called "The myth of the latin women". i am choosing this writing because i believe alot of us can relate to the writers situation especially if you belong to a minority group and you are sometimes looked down upon because other perceive you in a way that they want to see you

    I think I will go with the myth of the Latin woman by Judith Ortiz cofer because this type of stereotype can be related to my concern especially in Africa where many people do not have the opportunity to have higher education because of the living condition. Therefore, I can describe a lot or particular information related to this essays.

    I intend to write my essay on " the myth of the Latin woman"by judith ortiz cofer. What captured my interest about this article is the essence of how the author relates the message of stereotyping Latinos. I beleive the author Judith ortiz cofer makes a great point into the way Latin woman are truly raised up to be and the difference on how the Anglo-American community perceives them.

    I have decided that I will write an essay about The Myth of the Latin Woman by Judith Ortiz Cofer because this types of stereotype is also related with my nationality i mean where i form. I have a lot of experience which is relevant with authors experince in U.S.A.

    i believe that I am going to write my essay on the "when reality TV gets too real" piece.I have decided to write about this topic because whether we like it or not reality TV is on 24/7 and has changed the way we look at TV today.

    I intend to write my essay on "When reality TV gets to real" by Jeremy W. Peters.This article captured my interest because I've always wondered how reality tv shows have to deal with the criticism they get while shooting real people who are addicts, alcoholics, drug dealers, etc who do bad things. Although I'm not a big fan of reality TV shows i think this article explains whats right and whats wrong about putting the camera on real people with real situations.

    I choose the "Who’s Cheap?” by Adair Lara, because is about how man and woman are very similar and how money effect them.I believe that money shouldn't stand between the real love and people should treat each other with more respect and honesty.

    The article that i chose is "Who’s Cheap?” by Adair Lara, because I think money is a big issue in any relationship, not only with your partner but sometimes even with friends, and there are cases where money is more important than anything else.

    I intend to write about "who's cheap". My reason for choosing this essay is the Author, is trying to show you that men and women have mixed feelings of what is considered cheap to men and women. Who is suppose to pay, and if some people still have that traditional thought frame of, "men are suppose to pay".

    i intend to wite about The Myth of the Latin Woman by Judith Ortiz Cofer .. this caught to my eye cause am latina .. and there is alot of stereo in this article and i could relate to it .. especially since am a female and i knew what maria goes threw .. i beleive that people should not judge a person my its cover ...

    i choose to write about "Whos Cheap". this article really cough my attention, specially because i can relate to the author. we've both had similar experiences with cheap men. also because this is an issue that happens with everyone,in this generation men are not that generous to always pay for the bill they expect women to do it too.

    I decide to write about The Myth of a Latin Woman by Judith Ortiz Cofer because it caught my attention because I'am latina. And it talks about how she was stero-typed for being a latina and i can related with her.The title itself made it stand out to me from all the 0ther articles.
